A new beginning for The Salcombe Harbour Hotel
At the start of a new decade Mark Godfrey MD of the Harbour Hotels Group has been handed the keys to The Salcombe Harbour Hotel (previously Salcombe Marine Hotel) by Stephen Page, Director of the selling agent, Colliers Roberts Barry. The Harbour Hotels team are now busy making preparations for the grand opening on 29th March 2010.
Mark Godfrey comments: “This is a very proud moment for me and the Harbour Hotels Group and we are delighted to be joining one of the UK’s most beautiful and vibrant tourist areas. There will be a substantial number of full time jobs created which will be a great boost to the local community and we hope to bring a lot of visitors into the town which can only mean good news for local businesses.”
The New Salcombe Harbour Hotel will create around 50 full time jobs rising to 70 in peak months and will be re-opening as a 4* Hotel.

The Marine Hotel at Salcombe to re-open in 2010
The Marine Hotel in Salcombe will be opening its doors once again early in 2010 managed by the Harbour Hotels Group – a collection of fine Hotels in outstanding waterside locations, including St Ives, Sidmouth and Christchurch. The Hotel is also to be re-named as The Salcombe Harbour Hotel, in keeping with the names of each of the Hotels in the Group.

The move is welcomed by the Kingsbridge and Salcombe Chamber of Commerce as Chairman David Hanmer explains: “Salcombe has been missing The Marine Hotel, an essential and important year round tourist attraction and business in the town that provides much needed employment as well as being a tremendous venue for local businesses, clubs and associations to meet. It is very welcome news indeed and the whole business community is delighted to hear that new owners are now in place and we also welcome the news that the doors will be re-opening in the New Year.”
In a breathtaking location, the 53 roomed Hotel has stunning views of the Salcombe estuary. “The Marine Hotel is in a breathtaking location and we will not be rushing into any changes until we have considered each aspect of the Hotel and its position. In keeping with our other Hotels in St Ives, Christchurch and Sidmouth, we will make the very best of the Hotel’s existing assets including its stunning views and perfect seaside location,” said Mark Godfrey.
